My Process
Every great illustration starts with thoughtful planning. Before picking up a pencil, I take time to brainstorm and visualize ideas, mentally mapping out concepts to ensure the design aligns with the project’s goals. Once I begin, I create mockups and test ideas to see what works best. Below is an example of a mockup sheet I use when designing a client’s logo. My aim is always to translate a client’s vision into a compelling and effective visual design.
Sketching things up…
I often sketch initial ideas on paper, even when the final piece will be completed digitally in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Fresco. Sketching allows me to explore concepts organically and refine them before moving into the digital phase. Below, you’ll see an exercise I use to block out an idea. This series of images captures the progression of a drawing, photographed at 10-minute intervals, showcasing how an 60-minute pencil sketch evolves.
Client Approval
Collaboration is at the heart of my process. Before finalizing any project, I ensure mockups and design ideas are reviewed and approved by the client. Once we’ve aligned on the direction, I move into the final phase, delivering a polished, high-resolution digital file. If needed, I also provide assistance with printing to ensure the final product meets all expectations.
